New
Race - The First and The Last (Total Energy) 1997 I
As the name says this was
the only one tour/album in 1981 on Australia from this
supergroup formed by ex-Radio Birdman (seminal australian 80's
punk band) bassist Warwick Gilbert, guitarist Deniz Tek, and
vocalist Rob Younger, the Stooges' lead guitarist Ron Asheton
and MC5 drummer Dennis Thompson. On these tour they played
songs from these three bands as Sad Tv, Looking At You, Loose.
The first version of this classical album was lauched in 1982
obviously in vinyl, but reedited in 1997 in CD remastered from
original tapes but with different cover and some bonus tracks.
As live album, capture (almost) all high energy of these
historical team. Inside the cover is a brief history of
reunion and decision of do this tour. ESSENTIAL!.(DPJ) |
Hydromatics
- Parts Unknown (White Jazz) 1999 I
The Hydromatics are made
up of Detroit rocker Scott Morgan (The Rationals, Sonic's
Rendezvous Band - Hellacopters recorded some songs of this
band as Heaven and City Slang as B-sides and bonus tracks -,
Scots Pirates, Dodge Main - this band with the legend MC5
guitar player Wayne Kramer), Nick Royale(The Hellacopters),
Tony Slug and Theo Brouwer (from dutch punk band Nitwitz).
They show us the pure 70's rock in their veins, recording live
in studio. The sound is almost the same as Hellacopters album
High Visibibity. If you liked, Parts Unknown is your album.
Some classic songs as Heaven and Dangerous are fantastic.(DPJ) |

Monkeywrench
- Electric Children (Estrus) 2000 I
Mark Arm on vocal Steve
Turner on bass (both from Mudhoney), Martin Bland drums and
the producer (with Jack Endino on this album) and guitarrist
Tim Kerr meet again to record the second album from this
project (The first was launched in 1992 by Sub Pop). The sound
is one mix of many styles as country and rockabilly with pure
noise-rock, more raw than the first (a hand of Jack Endino) on
the production. Eminence for Bring On The Judgement Day and
From Now On.(DPJ)

Nailbomb - Point
Blank (Roadrunner) 1994 N
Band formed by Max Cavalera and
ex-Fudge Tunnel singer/guitarist Alex Newport with
contributions from Igor Cavalera, Andreas Kisses and Dino
Cazares (ex-Fear Factory guitarist that had a test to play in
Limp Bizkit). They mixed extreme metal with sample and drum
machine. The final result is so good, so different from their
original bands, but so strong and fast. Now a days, Max is
playing in Soulfly and Alex Newport is a producer (he produced
At the Drive-In, Samiam among others). Eminence for the tracks
Blind & Lost and Wating Away .(DPJ) |

LARD
- The Last Temptation of Reid - (Alternative Tentacles) 1990 I
Jello Biafra meet Ministry
and recorded these insane album that can be defined as
"Industrial Hardcore". Jello is in shape and singing
with a pleasure as in Dead Kennedys times. In these album, the
Ministry guys are (much) more punk, deixando de lado the
experiences and kicking your ass. If you like Nine Inch Nails,
Marilin Manson, even hardcore, you must have this album, that
you can find in used sessions on good CD stores. Eminence for
Forkboy (that is in the Natural Born Killers soundtrack) and
Drug Raid at 4 AM. (DPJ)

MD
45 - The Craving (Capitol) N - 1996
This band is Dave Mustaine
(Megadeth) guitar, Lee Vig (form the classic punk band Fear
that has album launched here) vocals, Jimmy DeGrasso (Suicidal
Tendencies) drums, Kelly Lemieus bass. This album mix a little
bit of punk, thrash with a great portion of heavy metal. It's
a good album, not great, it could be stronghest, but with a
great guitar work of mr. Mustaine that composed 10 songs of
these 11 songs album. For collectors and Mustaine fans.
Eminence for the tracks My Town and Hearts Will Bleed. (DPJ)
